If you’re anything like us, the second the sun comes out in spring, we find ourselves reaching for floral prints, and then we wear them on repeat until the sun has set on summer. From big blousy blooms to dainty ditsy prints, this season, we’ve taken inspiration from our flower beds and put together a perfect arrangement of freshly picked prints that will keep your wardrobe in blossom all year round.

Florals for summer may not be groundbreaking, so one of the tricks I use to keep them feeling fresh is to wear them with other prints. The only rule? Stick to the same colour palette. This outfit works because the soft blue in the stripe shorts is echoed in the painterly print of this romantic crinkle-textured top, bringing you a perfectly put-together look that’s made for a summer of garden parties and barbecues.
You’ll always have your pick of floral dresses for women but this season, we’ll be branching out and trying out patterned trousers instead! In bold cobalt with black and white blooms, this pair are a cool take on the trend and have the added benefit of being as comfortable as your favourite pyjama bottoms! I’ve styled them with a billowy white blouse and black strappy sandals for a look that’s perfect for touristing about town, but they look just as good dressed up for a garden party with heels and a blazer draped effortlessly over your shoulders.

What makes this floral print dress really stand out is the darker background, bringing it up to date for Summer ’22. Smaller prints are good if you feel self conscious wearing something bright or bold and don’t want to stand out too much. Whether you wear it with jewelled sandals and a denim jacket by night or with white pumps to take you from the beach to the bar on holiday, my favourite thing about this dress is you can just slip it on and go, leaving more time for soaking up the sun and sightseeing.
A printed skirt is a perennial summer staple, and in a crinkle-textured fabric that packs like a dream, this is my pick of the bunch! The monochrome floral print is cool and modern, whether you wear it with brights, stripes (considered a neutral in our books) or pastels. The satin-feel fabric is lightweight, blissfully soft and looks just as good pulled over a swimsuit on the beach as it does dressed up for dinner. This beauty’s taking pride of place in my suitcase!

Inspired by the timeless tea dress but in low-maintenance jersey, this little number is a joy to wear! The large-scale print looks fresh and, because it stops the eye from focusing on just one spot, it will flatter any figure. The only difficult thing about it is whether to choose this soft and flattering sky-blue shade or rose-tinted pink. Personally, I’ll be alternating both, paired with a denim jacket and white pumps for an effortless print outfit.
