Bedding Buyer’s Guide
On average, a human being will spend an incredible 25 years of their life sleeping, and here at Cotton Traders, we’re firm believers that we might as well make those 25 years as luxurious and comfortable as possible!
With that in mind, we’ve put together a quick yet comprehensive guide to our collection of bed linen, to ensure that you buy and bring home the bedding of your dreams!
Fabrics
Cotton
Cotton is the world’s most widely used natural fibre. Soft, comfortable and naturally cooling, it is incredibly versatile yet lightweight and breathable and an easy choice for everyday bedding.
Poly-cotton blend
Comfortable and soft yet easy to care for and brilliantly hardwearing, our poly-cotton blend gives you the best of both worlds. What’s more, it’s machine washable and dries quickly.
Thread count
Thread count is the number of threads in a single square inch. The higher the thread count, the finer the yarn, creating a beautifully soft and luxurious fabric.
Fabric quality & finishes
Egyptian cotton
Renowned as the world’s finest cotton, Egyptian cotton is incredibly strong, with stress-resistant fibres. The fabrics made from it will be softer, finer and more durable.
Brushed cotton
We’ve taken our highest quality pure cotton and brushed it to give an irresistibly soft and cosy finish. Also known as flannel or flannelette, it’s a perfect choice for chilly nights.
Percale
Percale is a simple weave with a soft, smooth and crisp finish for a refreshing nights sleep.
Sateen
A special weave with a smooth, soft and irresistibly rich silky sheen, ensuring that you sleep sweetly and soundly.
Jacquard
A Jacquard is a fabric design created by weaving threads together in a way that leaves a beautiful design, with a luxe, textured finish.
Printed bedding
Unique and attractive patterns and designs are printed directly onto a plain fabric. Printed bedding might be a little bit stiff when it’s new, but will quickly soften once washed.
Embellishments, embroidery and applique
When additional fabrics, yarns and decorative details such as sequins and jewels are added to enhance the design of your bedding. Sometimes these embellishments can be of a delicate nature, so care instructions must be followed when looking after your bedding.
Quilted
Created with warm hollowfibre wadding between two layers of fabric, our bedspreads and pillowshams promise extra warmth and endless comfort.
Caring for your bedding
To preserve the life of your bedding, take care to always read the washing instructions on the label. However, be sure to always wash your bedding separately to prevent the colours from running. We recommend washing before first use.
